Since Halli opened in early 2006 it has been our favourite restaurant of any kind, anywhere! Ingredients are fresh and of good quality, spices applied with care and expertise. Some of the dishes are truly memorable”.
Martin W, Veggie Places
“This South Indian vegetarian restaurant offers cuisine which is refreshing and different to the usual ‘Curry House’ fair. I think that this counts as one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Good service, good food, excellent side dishes and particularly good choice of vegan meals”.
A Kumar, Happy Cow’s Vegetarian Guide |
“Halli in Leicester is an unusual Indian Restaurant which has southern Indian style dishes and is quite different and has a fresher taste to Tandoori restaurants”.

“Ziogy flavours from fresh spices makes all the difference to Halli and will convince the most hardened carnivore that there is life beyond chicken tikka masala”.Colossus, UKTVFOOD
Halli is the fi rst choice for my family when we eat out. It offers variety, fi ne cuisine and we are always made welcome by the staff, nothing is too much trouble. I have lived in Leicester for over 30 years and sampled most local restaurants and so feel I can speak with some knowledge. There are many places to eat Indian food in Leicester, Halli is different. We have tried combinations of fl avours which are new and delicious. If you haven’t eaten at Hall yet give it a try. Alysoun Hancock, MMT Digital. |

We found Halli by chance the first week it opened. We were welcomed by Siby and Thomas, as we have been almost every week since. It’s the lovely vegetarian food, the superb cooking, the friendly atmosphere, the efficient service from all the guys – we never have barbecues or invite friends for dinner at home now, it’s always – “let’s go to Halli!” Hosting the comedy festival upstairs was a stroke of genius – well done guys for winning the award – you deserve it. Halli is my favourite restaurant of any kind, any where – and we have been to a lot of restaurants. The South Indian vegetarian cuisine is very different from the standard curry house food, and the excellent chef ensures that it is always fresh and tasty. Have a huge dosa between two with some interesting curries such as bende kodokana or beetroot sashimi for a memorable meal at a very good price. If you are uncertain what to order Thomas and his staff are as friendly and helpful as you could wish. Handy for the railway station Halli is well worth a trip to Leicester if you don’t have the good fortune to live within walking distance as we do. Go any evening and there’s a good chance the couple half way down on the left will be us! Martin Ward. |
